What is Connections Academy?

Connections Academy^? is an online schooling option supported by Pearson, the world’s learning company. These high-quality, tuition-free online public schools are available in many states. Students learn from home, with parent involvement, and connect to curriculum, teachers, classmates, and resources using the internet. Most Connections Academy–supported online schools serve students in grades K–12 and are accredited by one of the six regional accreditation agencies.

At Connections Academy, we believe that each student is unique—and that all students perform better when they receive supportive individual attention in a safe learning environment.

We call our individualized approach Personalized Performance Learning^?. Using this method, teachers get to know the learning styles, skills, and interests of every student so they can give each one the best opportunity to excel. Our approach also allows online school students to accelerate learning in areas of strength or receive extra attention in areas of weakness.

Exceptional K–12 Teachers

Great teachers are the foundation of the Connections Academy experience. They are talented, passionate, certified, and specially trained to excel in online teaching. Although students complete lessons independently from home, they also meet with teachers and classmates in the online classroom. In this safe learning environment, students can participate in instruction, review, and discussion. Teachers reach out to students regularly by phone and WebMail, and they are available to help students and parents as needed.

My favorite thing about online school is the amount of support each teacher is willing to give, whether it is one-on-one, in a group, or through a WebMail. They are willing to go above and beyond to make sure that each student is learning and understanding the material.

When parents take an active role in education, students prosper—that’s why we empower and collaborate with parents. As Learning Coaches, parents can be closely involved in their children’s daily education. They’re able to see real progress every day using our online learning system and working with supportive online school teachers to keep their students on track.

Socialization, Community, and Friendships

Attending online school doesn’t mean learning alone. Students have a variety of options for socialization and developing friendships. Even in a virtual classroom, students meet regularly in online LiveLesson^? sessions, where they can share ideas, compare experiences, and have fun learning together. There are also chances to attend in-person gatherings, activities, and field trips. And for those students who want to pursue other extracurricular activities outside of Connections Academy or through Connections Academy’s clubs, the flexibility of the program allows plenty of opportunities for those too!
